Pauline Loultcheva - Lawrence

April 17, 1942 - December 1, 2023

Mrs. Pauline Loultcheva - Lawrence founded the Association of Bulgarian Engineers in Canada (ABEC) in 2003 and held the position of Founding President until 2015, when she decided it was time to step down and enjoy her retirement. Through ABEC, she helped other Engineers through the process of having their professional accreditation recognized in Canada and created a network connecting them with resources through universities and private companies. One of the things Pauline greatly enjoyed and looked forward to every year, was ABEC picnic.

In 2016 Mrs. Pauline Loultcheva - Lawrence was awarded as "Woman of the Year" from the Republic of Bulgaria's State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad for her contributions and hard work with ABEC.

Mrs. Pauline Loultcheva - Lawrence will be greatly missed from all her friends and colleagues from ABEC :(

The Association of Bulgarian Engineers in Canada ABEC is a non-profit organization without share capital.

Eligible members are Canadian Residents, holders of Engineering Degrees from Canadian or Bulgarian Universities.

The goals of ABEC are:

• To facilitate the exchange of information and knowledge;


• To support and recognize excellence in engineering;


• To assist, advise and collaborate with members seeking employment or trying to further their education;


• To act as a fraternity for all members across Canada;

Helping Bulgarian Engineers towards obtaining of a professional designation in Canada and supporting their integration in the Canadian engineering environment is the main goal of our Association.

At the same time, ABEC aims at uniting the voice of Bulgarian engineers of all disciplines of engineering and will work towards embracing its members from coast to coast in the vast country of Canada.

The functions of the Association of Bulgarian Engineers in Canada (ABEC) include promoting the arts and sciences connected with economical production by means of organizing professional meetings, discussions and distributing topical publications.
Searching out and promoting the achievements of Bulgarian Engineers in the research and development field and in business is our way to show the quality of our engineering education, the strength of our will to succeed and our ability to provide creative solutions in our professional practice.

This website will act as a source of:

• Information - Sharing of Knowledge and experience which will facilitate the integration of its members into the Canadian and North American engineering and cultural environment. Providing links to institutions and organizations for licensing and education, to Professional and Trade Associations, to job markets and software developers and their communication centers made accessible with a click of the mouse.



• Communication - Networking among the Bulgarian colleagues and industry alliances, exchanging information on any technical, business and social matters, related to their profession or family, has always been a booster of confidence and business opportunity for the members of a professional group like ours. Networking with other professional groups will help us to enhance our own vision and keep us current to events at the cutting edge of technological advancements.



• Connections and Professional Growth - setting up meetings and lectures between new Bulgarian engineers and their more experienced and more established colleagues will provide an environment of an exchange and sharing of ideas and their trail blazing experiences.
